Worried at the increasing rate of covid-19 pandemic in the country, the Director-General, National Orientation Agency, (NOA) Dr. Garba Abari has called on Nigerian youths to ensure they adhere strictly to all safety protocols guidlines set out by the Nigeria governemnt to avoid being hit by the pandemic currently ravaging the world.
The Director General stated this in his speech yesterday in Abuja to declare open A-One day Youth Summit organized by the agency aimed at providing a veritable platform for youth engagement on key national issues.
According to him recent statistics have shown that the youths are susceptible to covid-19 infections and death.
“You must therefore denounce the beliefs that only elderly persons are mostly at fatal risk
“We are currently experiencing the second wave of the virus, we must therefore continue to take responsibility for the protection of all.
He also called on them to join hands with government in educating their various communities and wards on the need to accept the life saving vaccines against covid-19 when it is eventually introduced in the country.
He however pledged the agency’s continuous support in ensuring that issues that affect the Nigerian youths are kept at the front burner of national discourse in a bid to get them solved by government.
“Also, our message to youths at this occasion include to enshew social vices such as thuggery, cybercrime, cultism, drug abuse, armed robbery, sexual and gender based violence and other criminalities”. You must also embrace dialogue and peace as wel as imbibe the national core values among others.
