It was a gathering of Who is Who in the Nigeria media industry as members of the Association of Nigeria Health Journalists ( ANHEJ) turned out enmass last week Thurseday in the nations capital, Abuja to celebrate one of their own, Dr. Jimoh Abubaker Fache, the Director, Public Relation Officer of National Agency for Food and Drug Adminstration and Control (NAFDAC) now retired
According to the President of the Association, Mr. Joseph Kadiri, the Association is celebrating the amazing outstanding performances and years of dedicated hardwork demostrated by Dr Jimoh during his tenure as spokes man and image maker of NAFDAC.
Mr Joseph noted that Dr. Jimoh’s immense contribution in the media has not only led to the growth and development of the nations health sector but also led to the growth of humanity particularly in the lives of journalists covering the health beat.
“Dr. Jimoh has touched many lives of Journalist in a very unique way that we cannot forget in a hurry , he is an epitome of peace, a kind hearted man above all filled with wisdom.
“He goes out of his way to solve whatever problems confronting you weather it is related to office work or not as long he gets to hear such problem; so today we have choosen to thank and celebrate him having done us proud as a public relation officer.”
Other Journalists who spoke also recounted their good experiences with him while in the office and added that Dr.Jimoh has so far exhibited good virtures that must be emulated.
Earlier, in her key note address titled “The Role of Public Relatiions Officer in Promoting Public Health, the Chief Executive Officer of International Society of Media in Public Health (ISMPH) Chief Mrs Moji Makanjuola described Dr.Jimoh as the most humble man she has ever come across during her days of active Journalism with the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA)
According to her, Mr Jimoh remains the public relation officer that has discharged his duties in fairness, truth and in justice adding that he almost lost his life for siding with the truth during one of the Agency’s drug raid and destruction of fake drugs and unwholesome products that took place in Lagos some years back.
“He was faced with lots of threats and at a point came down with strange sickness that almost took his life but despite all this, he stood and did the right thing, always shunning out accurate informations towards safeguarding the health of Nigerians.
“I am proud to celebrate him. He is a brother, friend and a great colleague you can rely on. He has worked so hard for the safety of Nigerians and of the country; he really gave his best. I pray God to bless all his hardwork”.
Chief Moji however called on other public Relation Officers in the country to emulate the good virtues and hard works of Dr.Jimoh adding that he has set a pace for others to follow in the media industry.
” As a Public Relation Officers you need to be committed and dedicated in your job because a whole lot of lives depends on your job even the country as a whole.
” You must discharge your duties with utmost fear of God and to humanity because one day posterity will stand to judge everyone over the role we play to help humanity .
